"When one defines oneself as Pagan, it means she or he follows an Earth or Nature religion, one that sees the divine manifest in all creation. The cycles of Nature are our holy days, the Earth is out temple, its plants and creatures our partners and teachers. We worship a deity that is both male and female, a mother Goddess and father God, who together created all that is, was, or will be. We respect life, cherish the free will of sentient beings, and accept the sacredness of all creation." ~Edain McCoy

I had a visitor last night.

I was on my way out the front door, last night, to take the garbage out when I startled a house finch that was munching on some moths by my front porch light.

In the chaos, the little guy flew right into my living room. It flew around until it found a nice pirch on some branches I had sitting ontop a hutch.

My husband and I turned off all the lights except the outside lights and opened all the doors, in hopes it would fly out. But instead it landed in the sink (I guess it wanted a drink:) We grabbed two hats we have sitting as decoration and caught him in between them.I took him back out to the front yard.

I sat the hats on the grass and took the top one off. The little bird waited for a moment, all a while looking right at me, as if to say 'Sorry I spooked you and thank you for letting me free.' And then he flew away, happy as can be.

Superstitions say all things from good luck will come to bad luck or even death will come, if a bird enters your house. But I didn't feel that last night and I still don't think that this morning. I see it more as the Goddess saying hello and that she is happy that I am paying closer attention to Her.

I feel the closeness to Nature and to my Goddess and God more and more every day. I am truly blessed!

Blessed Be,

Grace
